I’ve not had time to read all the stories in GO! GO!! 1 yet – I’m going for the artists I know first – but so far the bits I have read have been really fun. The artists are mostly known for BL doujinshi (I actually have some books by Eikichi and K. Arima in my collection), and I think Sano Masaki & Watanabe Kyou are the biggest names on the list. As always there’s a few that have art I don’t really like, but overall quality is good. Like the other anthologies, this doesn’t count as canon but the stories are approved by Sunrise – official logo is on the back cover.

The stories are pretty short – most only a few pages – and there are a lot of yonkomas. I think this mixture of styles suits an anthology like this pretty well. Many minor characters who haven’t gotten proper appearances in the other anthologies show up, too. For example both Mr. Lloyds and Doc Saito have their own stories and Karina’s manager Robert makes an appearance. If I had to nag about something, it’d be the lack of Lunatic. Can’t have all, I guess…

This one is a bit more challenging to read if your Japanese is shaky, because it doesn’t have furigana for kanji. Still definitely worth giving it a go, this is my favourite of the anthologies so far.

There are two more GO! GO!! Tiger & Bunny anthologies planned, #2 comes out 10/25 and #3 near the end of November.

Poll Results

I’ve been running some polls for fun, but I remembered I never posted the results of them all. I have to admit the results weren’t always hard to figure out, but it was still interesting.

Poll #1

This one I ran in July, after 2nd cour had started. It seemed pretty obvious at the time that we’d get some continuation, but we still don’t know what. I’m kinda tempted to run it again and see if the result would be different. I think I voted for a movie myself, but now I’d vote for S2…

Poll #2

This one was in the sidebar of the main page in August, when I was feeling particularly spendy. I still want that Fire Emblem Figuarts like burning but I’m not sure if I’ll survive the battle for it. It gives me a bit more confidence that Wild Tiger’s already gotten a reprint but even that has sold out in minutes at the places it’s been available so I have a really bad feeling about my chances.

Poll #3

This was also in the main page sidebar for the past week, and the result pretty much reflects my own preference when it comes to the character songs. The Duet (yes I type it with caps, it deserves it) totally steamrolled all the other songs. It’s the one song that always makes me drop what I’m doing and just sing along like a dork when it comes up on shuffle. And hey, the soundtrack is coming out next week so we’ll get the full version of Natsu no Koi wa Otsukare Summer!

For Fun: Barnaby’s Surprise Birthday Party 2011!

Hey, everyone loves surprises, right? Right?! We’re a bit more classier than getting the Birthday Boy mugged in a back alley while being all alone, though. So we decided to do something else to celebrate the birthday of one Barnaby Brooks, Jr. on October 31st.

How to take part:

Make something that falls under the following categories and take a photo of it!

  • Arts & crafts: handmade items such as plushies, birthday cards, traditional art, or other handicrafts. (Note: You can make part of the present digitally and print it, the photo must be of an actual item!)
  • Food: birthday cakes or other birthday themed food.

Let your creativity flow! Remember that all presents must indicate somehow that they are for Barnaby. You can include him in the photo in same fashion as in Friend Rice Event, but it’s not required as long as it’s clear from your photo that the present is for him. Since these are presents for Barnaby, they must be actual items. Please don’t send in cosplay photos or digital fanart. We’ll make a gallery of all the presents to celebrate his birthday together with everyone! You can freely promote the event to your friends, the more the merrier!

You can send your photos to mail[at]thisissternbild.com at any time before 12:00 (noon) CET on October 31st.

P.S. There’s also a Halloween themed event to celebrate Bunny’s birthday!
