Episode titles 16-19 again… (updated)

I could update my earlier post about episode titles, but the August issue of Newtype magazine had an additional title listed so might as well make a new one. We refuse to speculate until we have some sort of idea where the plot might be going from here. Episode titles 1-15 listed here.

16. Truth lies at the bottom of a well.
-真実は井戸の底にある-

Meaning: To find the truth, you may have to dig deep. Japanese title is a direct translation of the English one.

17. Blood is thicker than water.
-血は水よりも濃い-

Meaning: The bonds of family and common ancestry are stronger than those bonds between unrelated people (such as friendship). This is an originally German proverb and the Japanese title is a direct translation of the English one.

18. lgnorance is bliss.
-知らぬが仏-

Meaning: If knowing something makes you unhappy, it would be better not to know it. The full version is “Where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.”

19. There’s no way out.
袋の鼠

This isn’t a proverb or an idiom. The Japanese title wasn’t given so it’s possible that it refers to a proverb, there’s been at least one clumsily translated one in the titles before. Update: found what seems to be the correct Japanese title. It means “rat in a trap”. There are many proverbs about rats, but this could be part of “a cornered rat may dare to bite a cat” which is a Chinese proverb. There’s a German proverb that is very similar to this, too.

And now for something completely different…

Aki dug this up on /a/. We don’t have a source which magazine it is from, but at least Animage and Newtype August issues have come out so it’s probably from one of them.

Q: Which one of the male characters would enjoy summer?

Tamura (producer): Fire Emblem, he’d do a lot of sight-seeing… of men. (laughs) And while we are talking about summer, there will be character(s) in swimsuit(s) in the show soon, so look forward to it!
Yep, we saw them swimsuits in episode 15.

Episode 14 or “Who are you and what have you done to our Barnaby?”

Tiger & Bunny returns to being a fun show with a bang. This episode didn’t have as clear a focus as the previous ones, but it’s probably because this was really just a set up for the rest of the story. At least, that was the feeling we got, as if it was kind of a second pilot.

14. Love is blind
「恋は盲目」

More episode titles revealed

Hello! This is derpchan, the member of This is Sternbild who can’t stop blogging! More episode titles were posted today.

16話「Truth lies at the bottom of a well.-真実は井戸の底にある-」

17話「Blood is thicker than water.-血は水よりも濃い-」

18話「lgnorance is bliss.-知らぬが仏-」

No speculation from me at this stage. I’ll watch at least episode 14 first to see where things are going. See ya!

Episode 13: You Make Bunny Cry Edition

Hey guyse? You remember last week when I predicted that this week all our carefully made predictions would be nothing but marsh gas? Well guess what? I was absolutely right about that.

This isn’t a complaint though. A week of suffering was totally worth what episode 13 served us and then some. If you want to prove us wrong, this is the right way to do it. We’ve seen this episode three times so far and I still don’t quite know how to reach a high enough level of coherency in my writing so I don’t embarrass myself. So, apologies in advance…

13. Confidence is a plant of slow growth
「信頼という木は大きくなるのが遅い木である」

12. Take heed of the snake in the grass 「草の中にいる蛇に用心せよ」

Oh boy. Should have seen this come from miles away. Somehow the series managed to lull us into false sense of security by being incredibly fun and entertaining, but things never are that easy when it’s a Sunrise show we’re talking about. After spending a week wringing our hands at what’s going to happen to Ivan, it turns out that he was the least of our worries. Welcome to mid-series crisis.

Since Aki is still in a state of wanting to throw vending machines at people, I guess this post is on me. (Not that I can blame her.)
