All the preorders we’ll fail to get

Our favourite Twitter personality Go Inoue‘s been tweeting photos of the upcoming Tiger & Bunny figures.

And from the official TnB Twitter:

Just thinking of trying to get preorders in makes me wail in despair. 。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。 (We really really want those casual clothes versions of Kotetsu and Barnaby!!!!)

Rock Bison figure by S.H. Figuarts (updated)

S.H. Figuarts have added another figure to their Tiger & Bunny series. Next up will be Rock Bison. The street date and price are undecided at this time.

This figure will be on display this weekend on the Tamashii Festival 2011 with Wild Tiger and Barnaby Brooks Jr. figures.

(Actually I’m a bit surprised they decided to make Rock Bison next, I was expecting Sky High or even Origami Cyclone, though Bison is very popular in  Japan. Hope this means there’ll eventually be figures of all the heroes.)

Update: Tamashii website now lists release for December, and 5000 JPY for price. (Still subject to change.)

Episode titles 16-19 again… (updated)

I could update my earlier post about episode titles, but the August issue of Newtype magazine had an additional title listed so might as well make a new one. We refuse to speculate until we have some sort of idea where the plot might be going from here. Episode titles 1-15 listed here.

16. Truth lies at the bottom of a well.
-真実は井戸の底にある-

Meaning: To find the truth, you may have to dig deep. Japanese title is a direct translation of the English one.

17. Blood is thicker than water.
-血は水よりも濃い-

Meaning: The bonds of family and common ancestry are stronger than those bonds between unrelated people (such as friendship). This is an originally German proverb and the Japanese title is a direct translation of the English one.

18. lgnorance is bliss.
-知らぬが仏-

Meaning: If knowing something makes you unhappy, it would be better not to know it. The full version is “Where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.”

19. There’s no way out.
袋の鼠

This isn’t a proverb or an idiom. The Japanese title wasn’t given so it’s possible that it refers to a proverb, there’s been at least one clumsily translated one in the titles before. Update: found what seems to be the correct Japanese title. It means “rat in a trap”. There are many proverbs about rats, but this could be part of “a cornered rat may dare to bite a cat” which is a Chinese proverb. There’s a German proverb that is very similar to this, too.

And now for something completely different…

Aki dug this up on /a/. We don’t have a source which magazine it is from, but at least Animage and Newtype August issues have come out so it’s probably from one of them.

Q: Which one of the male characters would enjoy summer?

Tamura (producer): Fire Emblem, he’d do a lot of sight-seeing… of men. (laughs) And while we are talking about summer, there will be character(s) in swimsuit(s) in the show soon, so look forward to it!
Yep, we saw them swimsuits in episode 15.

Comic anthology announced (updated July 14th)

Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM magazine announced today on their Twitter that there will be a Tiger & Bunny manga anthology. The manga anthology will have cover art drawn by Touya Mikanagi whose manga Karneval is currently being serialized in Comic ZERO-SUM. The expected street date for the anthology is August 25th.

It will be published by Ichijinsha which is also publishing the Tiger & Bunny Official Hero Book set to be released on July 25th. (Ichijinsha is also the publisher of Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM magazine.)

Update: I checked Ichijinsha’s main site and ZERO-SUM site, but I couldn’t find any further information on the anthology yet. I’m hoping the artist list will be announced soon so we’ll know what to expect.

Update 2: The anthology is now listed at least at CDJapan and Amazon Japan and available for preorder.

Figure preorders now open (updated)

The preorders for both Barnaby Brooks Jr. by S.H. Figuarts and the Deformeister SD figure set have opened at 16:00 Japan time (which was about an hour ago as I’m writing this post). It took me 40 minutes to get through to Animate site because it was under such a heavy load that they even had to put up a notice for it.

Coincidence? I think not.

If these figures sell on preorders like the Wild Tiger figure, they’ll probably skyrocket in value once they’re finally released. Like the Limited Edition of the first BD of Tiger & Bunny – it’s now out of print everywhere I’ve checked, and I’ve seen it resold for 22,000 JPY. People have reported even higher prices, up to four times the original retail price of ~7,000 JPY. I was checking some stores yesterday and I noticed that the stocks on the LE of 2nd BD are running low in them, too.

It seems that it’s best to act fast if you want to own the LE BDs or figures, they’re flying off the shelves.

Update: Preorders have been open for 2 hours at Animate, site finally loads for me again, and both Deformeisters and Barnaby figure are marked sold out.

Update 2: Turns out Deformeisters aren’t Animate exclusives, you can find them on preorder also in other stores. For example, HLJ still has Deformeisters and Barnaby Brooks Jr. available. Amiami and Hobby Search have had them, too. (Thanks to Weslea J M for info!) I still recommend to act fast if you want to preorder, chances are that many stores will quickly run out of preorder stock.
