New content = new books

The upcoming stage play and movies mean that we’re getting new source books. I’ve had to redo my September orders twice already because the publishers keep announcing new stuff every week. Here’s what’s available for pre-order so far (dates based on what the shops have announced), though I may have to edit this list soon because this is only stuff from Kadokawa Shoten.

Notes: Visual guide to the stage play. I don’t own any other stage play books so I’m not sure what all this’ll include, but there will be cast interviews for certain.

Notes: Manga of the first movie, art by Ohno Tsutomu. I’m not sure how many volumes this’ll be.

Notes: Movie novelization, this will be at least two volumes. The writer is Takahashi Yuuya, based on Nishida’s scripts. (I’d have preferred if Nishida could have written these himself, but I think he’s too busy at the moment.)

That’s the stuff for the stage play and first movie, but there are also new books for the TV anime. I’m still debating whether or not to get these because I have KING OF WORKS and they don’t seem to offer anything new.

I order my books usually from CDJapan, but these should be available at most of the usual stores that sell other T&B and anime merchandise.

There’ll also be a new one-shot manga by Katsura Masakazu and Nishida Masafumi, the latest issue of Young Jump announced that Katsura has put ZETMAN on break so he can draw some Tiger & Bunny.

Update: Miracle Jump’s T&B serialization volume 1 has appeared on Amazon Japan.

MG Figure-Rise Wild Tiger – build your own Ojisan

I’ve got some history with model kits. I built model airplanes as a kid (the ones that you had to paint yourself and everything). I’ve built gunpla, though mainly the 144:1 scale HG kits. Figure-Rise Wild Tiger is my first Master Grade kit, and probably the biggest one I’ve built to date. I was going to take really detailed progress shots of my building the kit, but I got a bit carried away and forgot. I’m not going to do step by step instructions here, because Bandai kits have really clear and good instructions that are easy to read even if you don’t know Japanese, but I’ll try to include some things that I have seen people ask about. The “Definitive Blunt Instrument” as KING OF WORKS was dubbed was finally released on June 29th. Originally it was meant to be only half of the size than it what it turned out, so learning the final shipping cost caused much gnashing of teeth. Ozaki’s tweets about the movie premiere

Our favourite moe oyaji, executive producer Ozaki went on one of his tweet sprees about the movie premiere. At the same time, the official site was updated with the new main visual and the new trailer featuring UNISON SQUARE GARDEN’s song written for the movie is also streaming.

“We’re organizing large-scale events on the first day of screenings including the movie viewing (in the event venue and during the live viewings), codenamed “World Premiere” (twice during night and day). Even looking at this from a global perspective, it’s a unique thing we’ve never tried before, but I hope everyone will be able to enjoy it together.”

“Of course, since it’s the movie premiere, you’ll be able to see it in the regular cinemas as well. I guess it’d be easier to imagine what it’s going to be if I say it’s a movie screening event including live talks and a really great on-scene greeting for all the fans. The event will be about 4 hours long, including breaks.”

“Right now we’re trying to reserve an event venue that’d be as big as possible. However, there’s a high possibility that no matter what kind of a place we reserve, we might still have problems with accomodating all the people interested in seeing it – so to satisfy the wishes of fans from different places, we decided to prepare the live viewings in the cinemas all around Japan.”

“I recommend our event both to those who’d like to see it in the venue, and to those who’d like to enjoy it during the live viewings in cinemas while watching the movie on a big screen and with the cinematic sound effects. For those who’d like to just enjoy the movie, I recommend going to a regular cinema.”

“When we decide where the viewings and the event itself are to be held (probably somewhere in the outskirts of Tokyo), we’ll announce it on the official site. Same goes for the ticket sales schedule. Please wait for the announcements from the cinemas.”

“We’d also like to let those who live in the places where the movie screenings start from October see the live viewings in their home area. Thanks to people from TJOY and Shochiku, I think we’ll be able to provide live viewings in about 100 places around Japan.”

The second version of the advance tickets is also available now, you get a pair of mascots with your purchase. The first version tickets came with Wild Tiger crapsuit card.
