Pre-orders for figures opening next week

The official Twitter account for Tiger&Bunny announced today that both Barnaby Brooks Jr. figure by S.H.Figuarts and this set of SD petit figures are coming up for preorders starting July 1st in select stores. The petit figure set is stated to be exclusively distributed by Animate.

Me and Aki are currently having a little episode of “grabby hands” here.  All the figures are so adorable, but we kinda hope there’ll be a secret figure that hasn’t been revealed yet. Can you imagine how cute a mini!Lunatic would look like?

Like the Wild Tiger figure, this one has amazing details, too. I’m not a hardcore figure collector myself, but I’d definitely love to get these babies on my shelf. If the speed that Wild Tiger figure sold out already on preorders is of any indication, it’s best to order this as soon as possible if you want to own it.

ETA: A series of SD mini figures are also coming. There’s not much information on them yet on the site, but the release is slated later this year.

Updated 6/24: According to the official Tiger&Bunny Twitter account, shops may start taking preorders for Barnaby figure starting July 1st. The SD figures will also be up for preorder.

Haven’t I seen her before?

We’ve seen most of the episodes several times by now, but I still didn’t notice this girl until she was pointed out to me. She’s been dubbed Scarf-tan, Scarf Girl and Miss Waldo and she’s always where things happen, but is she just a terribly unlucky girl or maybe a Hero TV employee? She’s not the only background character that’s appeared more than once, for example the drunken man at the bar in episode 4 appears again in another episode among the crowd of spectators.

As far as photobombing goes, she’s a lot more inconspicuous than Origami Cyclone in the background. I wasn’t able to spot her in episodes 2, 3, 4, 6 (added in BD) and 23, but she’s been in all the others.

Personally, I think she’s a running gag and a jab at some TV series always using the same extras. Although her design is pretty plain it’s more detailed than most of the background characters we see at the crowd scenes so reusing her is definitely intentional. I will laugh if it turns out that she has an own character page in the upcoming official books. (In fact, I’m secretly hoping for that to happen!) Update: She did get a page in Official Hero Book!

Oh and if you’ve spotted her in the episodes I couldn’t find her in, do drop a comment!

Episode 12 impressions

12. Take heed of the snake in the grass 「草の中にいる蛇に用心せよ」

Oh boy. Should have seen this come from miles away. Somehow the series managed to lull us into false sense of security by being incredibly fun and entertaining, but things never are that easy when it’s a Sunrise show we’re talking about. After spending a week wringing our hands at what’s going to happen to Ivan, it turns out that he was the least of our worries. Welcome to mid-series crisis.

Since Aki is still in a state of wanting to throw vending machines at people, I guess this post is on me. (Not that I can blame her.)
